cake renting?

why oh why would u rent a wedding cake?
why would u spend over $200 to have a "fake cake"?

and i quote
"The main cake is covered with real fondant with the looks and feel of a real cake in every aspect, however the inside is made of foam and there is small compartment to place a small portion of edible cake for the ceremony"

and then u take the cake to the "back"
so that u can cut up a store bought cake
and "claim" it as the real cake?

why the dishonesty, to show a picture perfect wedding?

this company rents it out
if you are into that sort of thing.

I thought about doing this, since cakes are ridiculously expensive... but in the end we found a reasonably priced baker :)

well my boss had a"fake" cake.. but it was only the bottom.. basically she wanted an elaborate and BIG cake but had a small wedding so the top of the cake was real.. but the bottom wasnt.. no onew knew until we wanted to take some home.. hehe

jchong i think with the boss
that makes more sense

but this company is all fake
except "one slice" where u can have the cutting.

and i think this makes more sense
if it was a cheaper cost
but good gah..with shipping costs and all, its like over 200 dollars!

and i feel like theres always a guest
who goes and examnines the cake
very closely
or the kid who sticks his/her finger into it (rachel i'm sure)
or the korean moms who want to take it home..
hahaha like u said.. i feel like ppl will find out.

I think this is a great option for someone who wants the tradition of cutting a cake at their reception and their cake budget is the $200 range... not the $500-1000 range that custom three or more tier cakes can often cost.

Why not have a "fake cake" like fake nails, hair weave and tons of other fake conveniences ...

i think a gorgeous work of art is not necessary for a wedding. i adore wedding stories where friends have made the wedding cakes and cupcakes..they might not look picture perfect but is more authentic.

ewww.fake nail and hair creeps me out. i feel like the fake cake is just a way to display your "wealth" when its not real.
